These yarns are typically spun on vertical machines, with filaments extruded from spinnerets and air-cooled before being wound onto spools. Multifilament yarns consist of a multitude of fine, continuous filaments, often with some twist to facilitate handling.

Additionally, multifilament yarns can be hydrophobic, meaning they absorb less water and dry faster, making them ideal for moisture-resistant products.
